BASF recognized by the EPA as an outstanding Safer Choice Innovator

FLORHAM PARK, NJ, May 17, 2016

BASF was named a 2016 Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award Winner by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its outstanding achievement in the design, manufacture, and promotion of ingredients used in a range of cleaning and other home care products that carry the Safer Choice label. The award was presented on May 9, 2016 in Washington, D.C.

“As a longtime supporter of the EPA’s Safer Choice Program, BASF continues to grow our portfolio of safer choice ingredients, which is one of the largest of any ingredient supplier,” said Daniele Piergentili, Vice President Regional Business Management, Home Care and Personal Care North America. “Product sustainability is a crucial factor for consumers’ purchasing decisions. BASF’s comprehensive portfolio, evaluated by its proprietary Sustainable Solutions Steering™ methodology, allows our customers to meet their certification requirements and consumer preferences.”

To qualify for the Safer Choice label, a product must meet EPA’s Safer Choice Standard, which includes stringent human and environmental health criteria.
